Lifeline 400 Telecare Sensors
Telecare sensors can be added to the Lifeline 400 home unit to provide a more comprehensive personal and property protection service.
Tunstall's range of telecare sensors monitor risks, hazards and environmental conditions, triggering a call to the monitoring centre if assistance is required. The monitoring centre can then speak to the user to ensure they are OK or call for further help from family members, local key holders or the emergency services. The available sensors include:
| Sensor |
Description |
Bogus Caller Button |
Positioned next to main entrance/exit doors the bogus caller button is designed to enable the user to raise a call to the monitoring centre if they feel suspicious about a doorstep caller. The monitoring centre will then speak to the caller and if required contact the organisation they are representing to ensure they are legitimate. Many instances of distraction burglary/bogus callers have been avoided by the use of this device. |
Carbon Monoxide Detector |
Known as the 'Silent Killer', Carbon Monoxide cannot be heard, smelt or seen. Fitting this small discreet sensor means dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide are automatically detected and both a local and remote alert is raised to the user and monitoring centre. |
Fall Detector |
Over 8,000 older people fall every day in the UK. Tunstall's fall detector, worn on a belt, can provide valuable peace of mind by automatically detecting a serious fall and raising an alert to the monitoring centre or designated carer. |
Flood Detector |
The flood detector is a wireless device that provides an early warning of flood situations such as sinks and taps overflowing. The detector raises both a local alert to warn the user and a remote alert to the monitoring centre. Flood detectors are commonly used by people who may forget to turn taps off and can also be used under baths or kitchen appliances to warn of potential leaks before they cause significant damage. |
Movement Detector |
The wireless movement detector can be added to the Lifeline 400 to provide a simple intruder detection system. This enables the user to simply turn on and off the alarm and if movement is detected when the alarm is on then a call is raised to the monitoring centre. The monitoring centre can then listen in (without being heard by the intruder) to obtain audible confirmation that a burglary is taking place thereby increasing the likelihood of a police response. |
Smoke Detector |
This smoke detector offers greater protection than a normal smoke detector as it raises both a local alert to warn the user and a remote alert to the monitoring centre if it detects dangerous levels of smoke. This means even if the user doesn't hear the alarm the monitoring centre is alerted and will contact both the user and call for additional help if required.
Homes equipped with smoke detectors continue to discover fires more rapidly than those without and are associated with lower casualty rates and less damage. Installing this wireless smoke detector is a simple and straightforward method of providing a monitored fire detection system in the home. |
A wider range of specialist telecare sensors are also available. For more information on these sensors and how to obtain them through your Local Authority's Social Services department please call Tunstall on 01977 660479 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm)

Description |
| Bed / Chair Occupancy Sensor |
The bed / chair occupancy sensor is designed to support people who are at risk of falling when they get into or out of bed. The sensor starts a timer when the individual gets out of bed during the night (e.g. to go to the toilet) and if they don't return within a safe time period, indicating a potential problem e.g. fall, the sensor raises an alarm for help. |
| Medication Dispenser |
Provides an effective solution to support medication compliance by automatically dispensing medication and providing audible and visual alerts to the user each time medication should be taken. If the user fails to access the medication, an alert is raised to the monitoring centre or designated carer. |
| Property Exit Sensor |
The property exit sensor raises an alarm if the user leaves their house and doesn't return during certain times. It is especially useful for people with dementia who are often prone to leaving their house at inappropriate times (e.g. at night) with the added risk that they become disorientated and find it difficult to find their way home. By using the sensor, local family or neighbours can quickly be alerted to help the user return home. |
| Enuresis Sensor |
This sensor provides immediate warning on detection of moisture, allowing effective action to be taken. The sensor eliminates the need for carers to make physical checks, promoting dignity and independence of people who suffer from incontinence issues. |
| Epilepsy Sensor |
This state of the art sensor monitors the user's vital signs including heart rate and breathing patterns to detect a range of epileptic seizures. The sensor eliminates the need for carers to make physical checks, promoting independence and dignity. |
