Mrs C - I got on the bed and must have been so sleepy I fell fast asleep; and the next thing, I went to turn and I felt there was nothing there. I fell down on my hands and down on my knees. Anyway, it was a blessing in disguise because that was the side the phone was at, but I couldn't get up. It was around about a quarter to five when it happened. I kept trying, praying and trying and I thought, "I can't ring my son at this hour of the morning". I waited for... it must have been around seven and eventually I had to give in and ring him. So, he got here about half seven - a quarter to eight - and the next thing he had me lifted and sitting on the bed.
Well, after the accident when I got home from hospital, I did lose my confidence. I was walking very slowly; I was a bit nervous, even about going out the front door. When I got that Lifeline 400, to be very honest with you, it was like a big weight being lifted off my shoulders. I wasn't concerned about going out into the garden, I wasn't concerned about going to the front door, and then I was getting to go back down to the day centre again and now I just take every day as it comes.
Son - I am really happy that mum got the support she needs. She lost a lot of weight and seemed frail after the fall. But now it seems that she's got a new lease of life.
Social Worker - We're really pleased by the transformation in her. We were very worried when she had her fall but that's all in the past now that she's got her personal pendant. She even answers the phone without getting out of her chair. It's great for her and it's great for us!
