Mrs W - The primary problem for me is the fact that over this past year I have been getting more light-headed and dizzy and the pain that I get is pretty horrendous at times. My biggest fear has been having a fall on the stairs and not being able to get attention or help and although I have very good neighbours in the area as well, I don't have people coming in regularly to me every day and I really thought I needed to do something to try and get help to secure my safety more then anything.
I found out about the system quite uniquely when I had had a few occasions when I had thought that I might have burglars in the house and I was concerned about my personal security more than anything. I got in touch with my local crime prevention officer, who after going though all of that aspect with me, had said about my disability problems I had living alone. He asked me if I'd heard about this system - Lifeline where I would be able to have immediate help if I had any problems in the house. So I contacted them who said this would certainly be quite possible that they could do this for me and it was put in very very quickly and it has been a fantastic sense of security to have this because I know that if anything happens to me I only have to press the button to have immediate contact with somebody who can send help to me and that is absolutely invaluable for me in my situation.
PSNI - When you have limited help from the outside world, it's vital that support mechanisms like the community safety package are in place. It really is a lifeline.
